Divine Dirt Quarterly, Issue 1

..... is live!  Check it out here.  It's a great collection and I'm honored to be among those chosen for the inaugural issue.  If you really want, you can go straight to my story here.   But I encourage you to read everything else too!  A couple I especially enjoyed were Persephone's Day by Nikki Loftin (poem) and Cinnabar and Catalpa by Kyle Hemmings (fiction).

Go have a read and let me know what you think.  :-)

  1. I love the last line. Such disappointment! I love the visuals of the clouds and how science and math intervene on her visions of what it should be like. Kudos!

  2. Hey, in case I haven't pestered you enough on your blog lately, do you want to play a bit o' tag? I hope so, because I just
    tagged you
! If you want to play, you can see more details on my blog. It's kind of fun. It's a lot like your author profiles, actually.

    Cheers!

  3. Thanks so much for the shout out! Pesephone's Day was my first published poem, and I'm thrilled that you liked it. Your prose piece was lovely, too, BTW. Poetry as well, in my opinion. Good luck finding an agent for your novels!

  4. Forgive a stranger for dropping in unannounced, but I perused the first issue of Divine Dirt and read your "Trans-Atlantic Flight" piece with enjoyment. Your punctilious devotion to descriptive perfection has evidently borne good fruit. I feel vividly the quiet, slinking torment you portray: the unsettling thought that God is neither proved nor disproved by nature's grandeur.
I also sympathize bitterly with your frustrations at finding a patron for your novel. I am in the same predicament, as you may well imagine. Keep reaching for heaven; those cumulus clouds aren't as thick as they look.

  5. Nikki - you're quite welcome! Just popped over to your blog and saw your October post about getting an agent. Congrats! I hope I'll be in a similar situation by the end of this year. :-)

Damien - thank you! I love when strangers drop by. Will be dropping by your website as well.
